About the Bird:听A听semi-migratory shorebird,听the American Oystercatcher makes its听home on听beaches and salt marshes along the East and Gulf Coasts. It has a unique foraging system of hammering or prying open mussel shells in shallow water.听According to 爆料公社鈥檚 climate projections, it stands to gain breeding and wintering range in North America鈥攂ut those models don鈥檛 take into account sea-level rise, which will most certainly erode existing and potential habitat as temperatures continue to notch upward.

About the Artist:听 is a street artist who works in听traditional mediums, including听canvas painting,听still photography, and videography. He's best known as听a听cinematographer for the musical film听Welcome to Harlem. In his downtime, he volunteers at a local organization called the Children鈥檚 Art Carnival of Harlem. 鈥淚听chose the American Oystercatcher because all of the other birds were taken,鈥 he says. (Brutally honest, and also not true.)
