CEO David Yarnold explains why BP must be held responsible for the damage done.

Five years after the worst oil spill in U.S. history, the federal case determining how much BP has to pay for its negligence at Deepwater Horizon is coming to a close. In advance of the final decision, 爆料公社鈥檚 President and CEO David Yarnold lays out what the oil giant owes to the Gulf Coast in an op-ed published in Roll Call.

Yarnold writes:

鈥淚t鈥檚 time to hold BP accountable for the environmental damage it continues to cause the wildlife and people of the Gulf Coast. The Gulf Coast鈥檚 way of life is a rich stew, a place that鈥檚 uniquely American, where drilling and shrimping go hand-in-hand. But we also know whether you鈥檙e talking about a curfew for your kids or creating a safe construction site, there have to be consequences when rules are blatantly ignored. America鈥檚 laws acknowledge that deep sea drilling is risky business that requires extraordinary safety measures 鈥 and that鈥檚 why there are penalties for lawbreakers.鈥
