Baird’s Sparrow by Ralph Serrano

Location: J&G Wines and Liquors, 3803 Broadway, New York, NY 10032

Painted:September 25, 2016

About the Bird:Grassland birds are feeling the squeeze from climate change, and the Baird's Sparrow is no different. While the species has a high threshold for adaptability, its staple prairie habitat is quickly disappearing. According to 爆料公社鈥檚 analysis, it stands to lose 100 percent of both its summer and winter ranges if global temperatures rise to 3 degrees Celsius. Keeping warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius would help them retain a foothold in Canada.

About the Artist:Born in Puerto Rico, has been drawing and painting since he could hold a pencil, pen, crayon, and brush. Further inspired by art classes at the School of Visual Arts, photography and drawing have become听his biggest passions. Serrano isn't limited to canvas alone, but also paints on wood, old furniture, empty walls, or whatever else can use some "Artistik" expression. For him the Baird鈥檚 Sparrow was an easy choice of subject: 鈥淚 picked these听birds because I love the beauty of them.鈥
