About the Bird: The relatively nocturnal  can be heard barking wok in the dark. Extremely adaptable, 爆料公社's climate models predict that the bird鈥檚 North American summer range will grow in the coming years, expanding across western U.S. states and stretching north into several Canadian provinces. It will be vulnerable to increased wildfires incinerating habitat and spring heat waves that could threaten its young, however.

About the Artist: Born in Manizales, Colombia,  graduated with a degree in Visual Arts from the Pontificia Universidad Javerian of Bogota and an MFA in painting at the New York Academy of Art. 鈥淚 chose the Black-crowned Night-Heron because it caught my eye as soon as I saw it, thanks to its elegance and simplicity,鈥 Ocampo-Giraldo says. 鈥淚 just thought it was a cool-looking bird.鈥
