About the Artists
has always had grand ambitions for what music can be, but his method has sharpened over the years. On albums like 2012鈥檚 鈥淏reak It Yourself鈥, which cracked the Billboard top 10, he explores themes of autonomy, and how our choices ricochet throughout our lives. 鈥淢y Finest Work Yet鈥, from 2020, received a GRAMMY nomination and found Bird touching on political themes through this same lens.
Renowned English supermodel 鈥檚 blossoming music career has seen the release of three full-length albums, 鈥淭he Ghost Who Walks鈥 and 鈥淒ouble Roses鈥 and in spring of 2022 she released her third album 鈥淕reen鈥 to critical acclaim which was produced by the Grammy award-winning musical duo of Daniel Tashian and Ian Fitchuk.
You鈥檝e heard before. It鈥檚 her honeyed voice that opens Fleet Foxes鈥 2020 record Shore 鈥 an experience that鈥檚 since earned her global critical acclaim. Though her career in music is now taking off, for Uwade, 21, singing has always been a kind of prayer. This stems, in part, from her spiritual upbringing 鈥 steeped in the sounds of hymnal choral music and Nigerian Highlife on her dad鈥檚 car radio 鈥 and her rigorous education. To describe her voice as a divine signal you鈥檇 read about in classic texts, at once ancient and altogether new.
If the highest compliment to a musician is to say that his or her band transports the listener, then bandleader is a travel agency extraordinaire unto himself, providing a one-way ticket to a fascinating time and place. His vintage-style 1920s/30s music instantly brings the audience to a raucous, uninhibited party where enjoyment reigns supreme. Only a mannequin would fail to get up and dance.
