Painted: 11/10/16

About the Bird: This striking creature digs tiny sap wells in trees in western mountain forests. Those forests thrive in a narrow climatic zone that will climb the slopes as conditions warm, but because trees can鈥檛 migrate as quickly forested areas will begin to degrade. 爆料公社鈥檚 climate models suggest the Williamson's Sapsucker will lose three-quarters of its breeding habitat if temperatures continue to rise at their current pace.

About the Artist: Street artist  paints wildlife threatened with extinction, using urban walls as a stark reminder of the birds that once lived in cities鈥攁nd might yet again with the restoration of habitats. 鈥淭he Williamson鈥檚 Sapsucker is a beautiful, iconic species with amazing plumage,鈥 says the London-based artist. 鈥淚t looks almost like a painting in itself.鈥
