As birds migrate along along the eastern edge of California's Sierra Nevada, they're drawn into Death Valley National Park and other regional valleys, where they stop at desert oases to rest. In addition to these seasonal migrants, the park hosts desert species, such as the Greater Roadrunner, Phainopepla, and Cactus Wren, for which the park鈥檚 climate is projected to improve through 2050. Warmer summers are likely to challenge the many warblers that pass through, including Wilson鈥檚, MacGillivray's, Yellow-rumped, and Orange-crowned. It is recommended that park managers preserve habitat, reduce impacts from disturbance and nonnative species, and protect sources of water and stream-side vegetation.
